John McDonough
Chief Executive Officer

John has been in the international education industry since he graduated from George Washington University in 2003 where he studied Russian language and international affairs. He has worked as an international admissions manager, area recruitment manager and held senior marketing roles in a leading international education consultancy. He speaks fluent Russian and Spanish as well as Mandarin Chinese and recently completed his Master's in comparative political economy at the London School of Economics in 2009. He has lived, worked and studied in Mexico, the United Kingdom, Russia and China and has recruited students in over 42 countries for universities and high schools throughout the USA. When John is not in the office, you can find him reading in a local café in his Brooklyn neighborhood, spending time with his huge family in Long Island and his friends from all corners of the globe, watching movies, working out or skiing wherever and whenever he can fit it in!

Douglas Milstein
Chief Operating Officer

Doug has immersed himself in the educational field since the completion of his bachelor's degree in English Literature from Fordham University in 2003. He went on to complete his Master's in Education at Stony Brook University in 2006 and received his Advanced ESL Certificate from Hofstra University in 2010. Pursuing a fondness for international cultures and experiences, he has lived and worked abroad in Australia, Fiji, and Peru. In his spare time Doug enjoys surfing, photography, and playing the guitar as well as assisting with local environmental efforts in the community.

Judith Celano
Senior Manager of Corporate Operations

Judith graduated from Long Island University with her Master's of Business Administration in 2013. Prior to working at UTP, Judith's work experience included university admissions and recruitment within the United States. She has also spent time studying abroad in Costa Rica. In her role as Business Operations Manager, she oversees human resources, student account reconciliation, invoicing, and a multitude of general business tasks. In her spare time she enjoys going to concerts, trying new foods, and chasing after her toy-fox terrier, Mario.

Beth Drake
Director of Marketing and Development

In Beth's role as Director of Marketing and Development, she's responsible for developing long-term international recruitment relationships with education providers. She's held senior roles in business development, management, marketing, sales and operations- all in the field of international education. She's worked with and on behalf of secondary and university institutions across Europe, Asia, and the United States. Beth has travelled the globe both personally and professionally, but has a specific passion for the Indian subcontinent. She graduated from James Madison University with a BBA in Marketing and International Business. She enjoys skiing, sailing, long-distance running and exploring the world with her family.

Peter Graves
Director of Academic Development

Peter has been involved in international education since 2003 when he first started teaching ESL to Buddhist monks and Tibetan refugees in Dharamsala, India. When he returned to the States in 2005, he continued working in international education. Peter has worked in many areas in this field including center management, academic development, and accreditation and compliance. To stay abreast of the ever-changing world of accreditation, he also joins accrediting bodies on visits to schools around the country and participates in the accreditation process. Peter received his Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from NYU and his final study was published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. In his spare time, he likes to be outdoors, preferably wandering around the Catskills in upstate New York.

Minh Nguyen
Senior Admissions Manager

Minh has been in the international education field since 2007. He graduated from the State University of New York College at Fredonia in 2004 where he studied music. He has held a variety of roles in the field of international education; student services manager, admissions manager and admissions team leader. Minh has also spent time working overseas in Vietnam. He is well versed in handling applications from all over the globe and looks forward to assisting students with their application process. Minh enjoys playing the piano, going to art exhibits and learning about different cultures.

Ryan Davidson
Director of Information Systems

Ryan Davidson began working with UTP in the company's earliest days as a freelance web developer. He is happy to now join the company full-time. Ryan holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Loyola University. Previously, he served as the head of digital product support for Webs.com. After Webs was acquired by Vistaprint, he served in the same role for the full suite of Vistaprint digital products leading international teams in Jamiaca, Germany, Tunisia, India, and the United States. Outside work, Ryan plays the bluegrass mandolin in the long running McKinley Mansion jam series. He also enjoys kayaking and paddleboarding with his family on the Chesapeake Bay.

Andrew Russell
Lead Teacher and Academic Development Manager

Andrew completed his M.S.Ed in TESOL from Hofstra University in 2013. Prior to that, he lived and studied in France and spent significant time teaching ESL in Greece and Turkey. In his former position with UTP as ESL teacher at Saint Anthony’s High School, Andrew had the privilege of working with English language learners from all corners of the globe. He helped students meet the expectations of the ever-challenging mainstream curriculum offered at Saint Anthony's and helped them to adjust to life in a foreign country. With so much experience and talent in his field, Andrew is now UTP’s Lead Teacher and Academic Development Manager, providing support, guidance and mentorship to our growing team of UTP Language Foundation teachers. When Andrew isn’t busy developing young minds, you might find him on a tennis court, snowboarding or playing the violin and guitar.

Walter Morrell
UTP Summer Program Manager

In 2014, Walter graduated from St. Lawrence University with a degree in Art and Art History. As a university student, he participated in a wide range of sports such as soccer and squash. After recently traveling through South America and spending a winter enjoying the snowy Vail, Colorado, Walter joined UTP as the UTP Summer Program Manager. He has extensive experience working at various locations across the U.S. in the field of Summer Schools & Summer Programs, and, as UTP rolls out it’s new Summer Program, Walter is excited to provide our international students a rewarding summer educational experience. In his free time, Walter enjoys having a cup of coffee or a good meal with friends. He also enjoys traveling and has visited the Adirondacks Park for ski trips and camping adventures.

Alice Feng
Corporate Accountant

Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, Alice is a former international high school student. After a wonderful experience studying abroad in a boarding school in Arizona, she moved to New York to attend Stony Brook University. Following a passion for numbers, she earned a B.S Degree in Applied Math. Now, as a part of the UTP family, she holds the position of Accounting Coordinator. Having had a personal experience as an exchange student, Alice is very excited to once again find a place in the international education industry with UTP! When she's not busy working, you will most likely find her enjoying Netflix series, traveling, or eating delicious meals with friends.

Olga Timoshenko
Admissions Coordinator

With a passion for English, Olga obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in English Language Teaching at Kazan State University in Russia. Soon after, she began teaching English as a foreign language to adults in her hometown, Kazan, Russia. This endeavor turned into a fulfilling 5-year long career as an EFL Instructor. Olga went on to receive an international teaching certificate (CELTA) in Kyiv, Ukraine, which enabled her to continue her teaching career outside of Russia. She also spent 6 months teaching ESL in Istanbul, Turkey before moving to the United States to further her career. As an Admissions Coordinator with UTP, Olga is happy to help young people open doors to international education and travel. She enjoys traveling and calls herself a citizen of the world. When Olga is not at work you might find her rehearsing and performing with her choir, walking the New York City streets or spending time at a pottery studio.

Sean McGladdery
Director of Global Recruitment and Admissions

Sean has been part of the international education community since he came to the US from South Africa as an undergraduate student to attend New England College. His experience as a student has allowed Sean to view the industry from a first hand perspective. Since graduating with a degree in Advertising and Public Relations, Sean has worked in international education. He's now responsible for traveling the globe to find the best students to attend UTP's programs. Throughout his career, Sean has been based in New York, Brighton (UK), San Francisco, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok and now Long Beach (California). When he's not on a plane or in a foreign country, Sean likes to pass his time enjoying a good cup of coffee, tasting new foods and spending time near the ocean.

Patricio Leyshon Hughes
Recruitment Manager, Latin America and Europe

Patricio is based in Mexico City and oversees recruitment throughout Latin America. Prior to working with UTP, he's held marketing and sales roles in different international companies. Since 2011, he's worked in international education and has been recruiting students for universities and high schools throughout Mexico, South America and China. Patricio speaks Spanish, English and French. He has graduated from ITESM in Guadalajara, Mexico where he studied marketing. He's also participated in different exchange programs in England, Canada and France. Patricio enjoys traveling and learning about different cultures and foods. He also enjoys films and spending time with his friends and family.

Jaclyn Lyons
Onshore Recruitment Manager

Jaclyn has a passion for all things international. After graduating from the University of Scranton with a BA in Communications she worked for a Global Advertising Agency for two years before pursing an education degree. In 2008 she received her Master's in Special Education from Hunter College and moved to Costa Rica where she taught students of all ages for 5 years. Before joining UTP's Marketing and Recruitment team, Jaclyn worked in Student Services at our St. John’s campus in New York. In her current role, Jaclyn is responsible for assisting in UTP's marketing efforts via our expansive agent network and assists in many tasks related to recruitment. In her spare time Jaclyn loves traveling, yoga and exploring her new surroundings in California.

Yvette Kim
Recruitment Manager, North Asia

Yvette is based in Seoul, South Korea and has more than ten years experience working with global education groups. With a background in companies that operate diverse programs for English studies, high schools, vocational studies, and universities, she understands all aspects of the industry. She has worked in markets such as the USA, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. She also studied Hotel Management at Sarina Russo Institute in Australia after graduating with her BA in French Literature. Continuing her long career in international education, she is now part of the UTP High Schools team as North Asia - Recruitment Manager overseeing South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. In her free time you might find her traveling, skiing, swimming, or spending time with family, friends and neighbors.

Ivy Zhou
Recruitment Coordinator, China

After graduating from university, Ivy worked for an English training center for one year. In 2007, she then moved to Beijing and entered the International Education Industry where she gained about 8 years of extensive working experience. She completed projects as a Liaison Officer, Documentation Officer, Counsellor and Partnership Specialist, evolving her skill-sets greatly within the sector. In her time spent in International Education, she has found joy in the opportunity to use her skills to support, help and communicate with others. Since 2012, Ivy worked for the State University of New York (China Office) as the Program Advisor. In this position, she was able to assist students and parents, expand the national network, and maintain relationships with various institutions. After joining the UTP Beijing office, she is excited to now assist in the success of UTP’s presence in China. The majority of her spare time is spent with her baby girl, who is now one years old, and she also enjoys reading, listening to music, and traveling.

Nguyen Le Hong Linh
Recruitment Coordinator, Vietnam

Linh has had more than six years experience working with different leading education groups. She’s had the chance to work with customers in Vietnam and educational partners from around the world. As Recruitment Coordinator for UTP High Schools, Linh is based in Vietnam and is responsible for the agents and partners with whom UTP collaborates. Linh graduated from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities. She enjoys listening to folk and country music, making new friends and traveling with her family and friends.

Elva Meng
Recruitment Coordinator, China

After graduating from Beijing Science & Technology University in 2009, Elva has been immersed in the international education industry. Her career in education began as an official documents & U.S counselor and from there, she became an in-country representative of a U.S public university. Elva has a deep understanding of each segment of international education and is therefore truly able to advise students in which programs are best to achieve their goals. As the Recruitment Coordinator for China, she’s responsible for the agents and partners of UTP High Schools in China. Elva lives a life with passion and has various interests. From skiing to Rock & Roll, from reading to travelling, she tries to experience all she can and enjoys sharing her life with friends.

Alex Kissel
Senior Manager of Center Operations

Alex joined the UTP team after working as a New York State Certified School Psychologist. After completing his bachelor's degree at Stony Brook University in 2008, Alex attained his Master's of Science from Saint John's University in 2013. Having lived abroad in Indonesia, Vietnam, and Fiji, Alex is always eager to utilize his training in counseling and family consultation for international education and host family dynamics. Alex works closely with UTP's Host Family network, school faculty, and international parents to ensure that UTP's students continue to succeed both academically and socially. Alex is an avid surfer, and his fascination with international travel originated from his time working as a surf guide and ocean rescuer in the Fijian Islands.

Emily Brosnan
Host Family Recruitment Manager

Emily received her Bachelor's degree in 2010 and her Master's degree in School Counseling in 2012 from Manhattan College. Emily studied abroad in Ireland during her spring semester at college and also had the opportunity to visit Paris and London. As a graduate of St. Anthony's High School, the school has always held a special place in her heart. She remembers fondly her opportunity to travel to Italy with the St. Anthony's Chorus. In her role as Student Services Manager, she enjoys guiding international students toward their dreams and goals, while also supporting and encouraging them to be the best they can be. Being a part of the St. Anthony's community is like having a second family for Emily and helping the diverse international students, in any way possible, is one of her biggest passions.

Adam Birke
Center Manager, Saint Anthony's High School

Adam received his Bachelor of Science in Biology at the State University of New York at Geneseo and recently graduated with his Masters of Art in Teaching for Biology from Stony Brook University. As Student Services Manager, he is responsible for helping students both in and out of the school building. He helps to oversee host family placements and management, student schedules, student academics, textbooks, and any other things that UTP's international students might need help with during their school year. Adam loves to spend his spare time outside- fishing, hunting, surfing and snowboarding are all interests.

Karlie Lacci
Student Services Coordinator, Saint Anthony's High School

Karlie has always had a love for education and helping students achieve their goals. In 2013 she received her Bachelors Degree from St. Joseph’s University in Secondary Education with a concentration in English. She then went on to further her schooling at Stony Brook University where she finished her Masters in Liberal Studies. Staying close to home throughout her college career has allowed her to spend time with her family and youth group, two aspects of her life that are very important to her. In her free time, Karlie enjoys reading, hiking, and traveling. She has traveled to Greece, Italy, and Spain, and hopes to continue journeying to other countries.

Saralyn Spataro
Language Foundation Teacher, Saint Anthony's High School

Saralyn received her bachelor's degree from Hofstra University in Spanish with a minor in Linguistics. She participated in study abroad programs to Spain and Portugal and credits her international experiences as the impetus for pursing her education in linguistics. Saralyn continued her studies at Hofstra and received her Masters degree in TESOL. Saralyn loves that in her role, she not only teaches and helps those trying to learn the English language, but that she also gets to learn from her diverse group of students. In her spare time she enjoys cooking with her family, going to the beach, and traveling to new places. She also enjoys staying active by hiking the trail around Long Island, going to the gym, and biking.

Julia Ceriello
Language Foundation Teacher, Saint Anthony’s High School

Julia completed a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Sociology at Northeastern University in 2003. After volunteering with Teach for America, Americorps, in Jamaica Plains, MA, she pursued a career in the private education sector in Costa Rica where she stayed for eight years. During her time abroad, Julia earned extensive teaching experience and a Masters of Education from Framingham University. Now, as part of the UTP team of Language Foundation Teachers, Julia is excited to work with international students on USA soil. She prides herself on cultivating a safe learning environment for her students in order to help them set goals towards academic and social successes. Julia’s pastimes include swimming and spending time with her family. While living abroad she also enjoyed the local travels and immersing herself in the culture of Central America.

Eastin DeVerna
Center Manager, Saint John's High School

Eastin graduated from Stony Brook University where he received his bachelor's degree in English and English Education and his master's degree in Creative Writing and Literature. In his role as the Center Manager at St. John's, he oversees international student academics, activities, and host families. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Kim, reading and writing, gardening, and traveling. He loves learning from his students just as much as he enjoys teaching them.

Sharon Forte
Student Services Coordinator, Saint John's High School

Pursuing a true passion for education, Sharon received a Bachelor's degree in General and Special Education followed by her Master's Degree in Human Services Leadership. Before coming to UTP, she had experience teaching children of all ages. Intrigued by International Education, Sharon created and taught educational programs to adult English language learners and helped them to become successfully employed in the United States. As the UTP Student Services Coordinator at St. John's High School, Sharon feels especially lucky to work with students from all around the world. From snowboarding and surfing, to the museums and parks of the city, she's excited to show them all that New York has to offer.

Anna Szysko
Language Foundation Teacher, Saint John's High School

Anna has been teaching English since 2009, when she graduated with high honors from Hunter College, with a Bachelor of Arts in English Language Arts and Childhood Education. She went on to receive a MSED in TESOL from Hofstra University in 2012, where she maintained an impressive 4.0 average throughout her studies. Anna credits the skills she acquired at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, an acting conservatory in NYC, with making her a distinctive and engaging teacher. Since moving to the U.S. from Poland as a child, Anna has retained her knowledge of the Polish language, which she continues to speak fluently. Most importantly, her experience as a former ESL student helps her to have a deeper understanding of the challenges that international students face both inside and outside the classroom. Anna enjoys travel, gardening and spending time outdoors.

Alexandria Suto
Langauge Foundation Teacher, Saint John's High School

Alexandria graduated from St. John Fisher College with a major in English Literature and a minor in Writing, and a second minor in Spanish. She has spent numerous hours tutoring in the English language and has also spent her time volunteering to teach English to native Spanish speakers. Alexandria recently graduated with a Master’s in TESOL from Hofstra University. In the next few years, she plans on continuing her education at Hofstra University in the Educational and Policy Leadership doctoral program. In her free time, Alexandria enjoys traveling upstate to visit her family, cooking, and spending time reading and writing. She has embraced her role at St. John’s as an ESL teacher and enjoys working each day, not only to teach her students, but learn about their culture and language as well.

Amy Childs
Senior Admissions Manager

Amy is from Georgia and received her BA in Risk Management from Georgia State University. She's taught English in San Francisco, Vietnam and Thailand. Amy speaks Thai and as certified in Thai massage. She's traveled to Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, and Ukraine to represent UTP and Fairmont. In her role as Admissions Manager, she processes all applications and provides student services to all UTP students on the Fairmont campus. When she's not busy at work, Amy enjoys yoga, riding her bike and reading.

Amelia Perri
Center Manager, Saint Thomas Aquinas High School and Bishop Guertin High School

Amelia graduated from Penn State University with her B.S. in Secondary Social Studies Education and a minor in History. She then pursued her TEFL/TESOL Certification from the International TEFL Academy in order to experience the world she had spent her collegiate career learning about. Prior to joining UTP, she spent three years teaching English and traveling throughout Europe and Southeast Asia. As a former ESL Teacher in Italy and Thailand as well as the Program Director of an International English Language Camp in Croatia, her experience makes her a great addition to the Saint Thomas Aquinas team as the English Language Foundation teacher. Amelia also has an inherent passion for exploring new places and immersing herself in different cultures. Besides backpacking through foreign countries, she loves to write, visit the beach, run, do yoga and play with her adorable niece and nephew.

Kylie Morris
Student Services Coordinator, Bishop Guertin High School

Kylie received her B.S. in Psychology and M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from St. Lawrence University. During undergrad, she studied abroad in Denmark and lived with a Danish host family, affording her the opportunity to travel to Scotland, Sweden, Austria and France. The following year she completed an independent study where she taught online ESL classes to middle grade students in rural Taiwan. As a part of the study, she traveled to Taiwan in order to coordinate an English-intensive summer camp. Kylie also completed a second independent study researching the benefits of social media as an ESL teaching tool. With a strong background in international education, she is the UTP Student Services Coordinator for Bishop Guertin. Kylie is very excited to return to her former high school and be once again a part of the strong community that Bishop Guertin offers. Outside of her professional life, her hobbies include running, traveling, rock climbing, officiating track meets and camping.

Daniel Carlos
Center Manager, Trinity Catholic High School and Melbourne Central Catholic High School

Danny comes to us after having worked in higher education where he oversaw both international and domestic undergraduate students on academic planning, career exploration and guiding them through their campus life experience. Danny graduated from Long Island University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Masters in School Counseling. While pursuing his undergraduate studies Danny spent a semester studying in Australia where he enjoyed meeting and learning from those whose experiences, beliefs, and perspectives were different from his own. As the Student Services Coordinator, Danny provides the proper motivation and support that will allow each of our students to enjoy their high school experience with the full knowledge of what’s expected of them. During his free time Danny likes to dance, go to live concerts and play soccer.

Mike Short
Center Manager, Seton Catholic High School

Mike has been actively involved with international students for many years. As a student at the University of Michigan, he concentrated on German studies and Asian Languages and Cultures. While earning his degree, he spent half a year abroad in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. There, he acquired fluency in the German language and also operates at a conversational level of Mandarin Chinese. When he returned from studying abroad, he became involved with many groups on campus that facilitated international students’ transition to American life. As the Student Services Manager, Mike does just that, supporting students, host families, and teachers in communicating with and understanding one another. In his free time, Mike enjoys reading, writing, and traveling.
